Now after the Grammys ,I have asked myself what have I always wanted to do ? I answered myself ,a New CD . I wanted to paint a new music Painting make a soulful pot of the Music of my Mind ……

So I dug deep and rolled up my Sleeves and got busy … I am Doing it I have some good stuff stewing in the pot … I can’t wait for yall to hear … I have a host of Cat’s playing on this CD . My main Man Kofi Burbridge , Todd Smallie,Mace Hibbard , The Great Rev. Oliver Wells ,Bruno The “Funk Man” , Joesph Patrick Moore , Ronda Scott , Charles Hegnpath ,Shannon Hoover , Keith Mitchell , Rico Scott II , Matt Morgan Sheeryl Reene … and Many Many more ….. I ain’t done yet …

Wow after the Grammy , I get up in the Morning and take a deep deep Breath . I thank god always for waking me up then the big Question is did that really happen. Yes it did ,I went to LA got the award , did LA in a way I have never done it and went home with a Grammy ……. I am still and will always be glad that I went. Stepped out of faith and let the Spirit flow.A lot of people would have done it a little bit different . I am glad I went alone and took the trip in deeply so I can go to the next Level of my Life and career …..

I am in the ground floor of making new music . The Derek Trucks Band of Hiatus has a lot to do with it but also the Fact that I have a lot to say. I have a lot lot of ideals to let the people hear and Feel ….. I still have my Mother in Me …..

It is sunday morning about 8:30 West coast time ,, I am feeling good strong even tho I didn’t get a lot of sleep. That is another skill that I learned from the DTB …… How to groove on a little rest ….. It helps that I don’t Drink or Party crazy Like in the old Days ….. I have grown up /////OK !!!!

I stayed up late because of the Roots 6th Pre _Grammy Party . The who’s who of the Funk Cats …… I also made a couple of new Friends ……. ?uest love Drummer and Leader of the Roots … I had a good time …..I know there are better things to come …… I know God will and has spoken to me like He did when I started the DTB a long 16 years ago ………

The first time I played with Derek and Todd was a great day in my World . I could feel the power and the love then…… You know how in life some times the light comes on … BAMMMMM The light came on and never stop shining bright and brighter ,now we are here . A Grammy Nomination …..

My Mother would be so proud , she would have pereked right up when she heard the news …. Well she is still hearing the News ……..

Ma Your boy Yonrico Vondez Scott is walking the Red Carpet today at 52nd Grammy awards and I love your More and more ma ,more and more …I would not be here if it wasn’t for you ……..

I am now going to the Gym to wake up this old Body … and then get Detroit and New York Sharp ……I love yal I will be back …

The Grammy’s are Tomorrow #7

Saturday Morning I am up jamming Grooving working out and feeling swell …… Why ,? The Grammy’s are tomorrow I already feel like I won a Long time ago by Being in The Derek Trucks Band . 16 Years of hitting . Derek is such a great leader, Alowing the Player to do what they do . I always knew that we would be in the worlds Eye someday . So here we are ,the Grammy’s . Dream come true Right Yes indeed , It would have never happen without you Guys and Girls !!!

So today is the Nominees Award Reception , I am going down but keeping in Mind to save the Gas for tonight .

The Roots Jam and Party I heard Prince might Show,I have grown to like them alot , I am not a big Rap Guy but they are playing . Respect !!!

Prince I meet Years ago when I was with After -7 and Baby-Face so it will be good to Kick it Him (Prince)

I have Bigger Respect For him ………

I am happy that I was Invited ,,,,,, My Drum-Sticks are in my man Purse too FYI …… Hahehahehaheha.

God is so good !!

I am now in LA ,,, The trip was all Atlanta … Sitting behind me was the Prince of Atl. “Usher”. He was cool it was Early ,so he like everyone there was sleep …… I heard he was in the M.J. Tribute .Thank God for Delta and thank god For First Class ..All the travel with the DTB has paid off . I am Up- Graded almost every time I fly Delta ……. Thank God♥

The day for the most part was picking out a rental car that was cool and fun … I have to play a little RIGHT you only live 1 time my People. So I decided on a Charger,White on white in white .. I am from Detroit i needed that D. flavor ……….

I wanted the hotel away from the Maddness .So I am at a Shreaton Suites …….. Very nice with gym and Wide Screen ……

Tomorrow is a big the the Special Merit Award Ceremony & Nominees Reception ……. I will be there with Drum Bells On and so will you . So I must hit the sack … So I can look good ……

I Think as I am Now packing my Bags , how many times I have packed my Bags . I have packed my bags about 3000 times plus with the DTB and other gigs to get in order to be in line for this big trip …….. The gigs around the world TV shows recordings …… The Practices all over the country …. I wore out a few suit cases .. I am now taking a trip to hang with the who’s who’s of the Music world ….. I am bubbling with Joy . I can’t wait to talk to DEREK today I have just a cool word or two to say to my Brother ……….

I still at the same time been busy getting ready for my CD …….. Works go on Right !!!!!…… This is a Job I have to tell myself some times

You Guys keep rolling with me I am going to get crazy now ……….

Road to the Grammy’s #3

Wow I am now sliding in closer and closer to the day . I will be leaving on Friday, the way I’ve been working I could use a little break …… When I reached my 40’s a long time ago , the need to work is more and more .. When I am at home the Drums talk to me , Then the Painting joins in . Now Writing Music leads the voices that speak to me. They are saying “Yonrico come be with me , you know there’s work to do a song to learn a stroke to Paint . Come here Boy get busy” When I go out of town for work like the 52 Grammy award ,I still hear the small sounds of my Loves But I tell them in a soft Voice . ” I am working just a little on a Different part of our Quest , I will see you guys later, So be cool,Daddy LOVES you”

I like to Dress cause I need to do something to look better ( OK ) , so what a better day than the Grammy’s to get what I think is Fly .. I am thinking what to wear . The Crazy man comes out now . I aways have to be careful not to Over Dress . So I will Maybe tell you guys and Girls what I come up with .

I am also thinking of things to do . The ROOTS are high on the to do List I would love to Plays some Drums too !!!! . Next I have been ask to attend the “Kings of Leon” Party .. I am in LA ,so I am there . You know what ever I wear it will able to fit a Camera in my pocket ….

Before I go there are more drums to be played.Tuesday I am at Smiley’s in Greenville SC . ,my new 2nd Home . My son lives there Yonrico Vondez Scott 2nd, the great folks there have been taken me in . I play there 1 time at lease a month ……. Then a couple of Recordings during the week . I tell you later ……….

I am getting ready as each day comes near . I just got my Ticket in the Mail . I was impressed with all the stuff I needed to have …. I should have known that, it’s the 52nd time they done it …… I am now getting all set what Party to go to . The Roots ( Funk Band Greats )are having a Pre-Grammy Jam , I am Looking forward to that . I heard there is a jazz hit to be had to ,I will look into that. I can’t wait …….

Tonight I am Playing with The Great Ike Stubblefield and Grant Green Jr …….. The Detroit Funk Extreme I will hit you tomorrow on more details … Till then, ,,,,,,,,, Grammy’s The Derek Trucks Band In the House..

I hope all you guys are having a good and Blessed start to 2010 . We are so Lucky that are lives and land have been safe .

As we all know by now that our brothers and sisters in Haiti Need our help please dig deep for our friends and Families in Haiti ……

As some of you Know the Derek Trucks Band was Nominated for a Grammy …… We are on a well needed Hiatus but are proud to take part in this event …… I decided to go to LA and attend the Grammys and just rub Shoulders …. I will be Posting today and everyday and giving a blow by blow of the Happenings of the LA spot light and the trip to the left coast ….Also hanging with The Roots and other cats and the PARTY’S….

As we step into a new day . Let me be one of the first to say hey and I am Feeling hopeful of our world . I am a Poet of the groove . I am one of the blessed cats who gets a chance to do it with a paint brush and with Drumsticks . So I am stoking all day and nite …….

I closed the year out with two nice gigs 12/30 with”Wide Spread Panic” at Phillips in Atlanta ,Ga .The final gig of 2009 was 5-Spot with the “Yonrico Scott Band” with Guest “Laura Reed “. She put a nice little Flavor on the YSB Groove.A Lot of Players showed up to make 2010 placed right . My main man Kofi Burbridge Keys and Flute, Mace Hibbard Sax, Joseph Patrick Moore Bass help me step up the game .

Even I have to be positive ,it’s hard. I find myself digging deep in my soul for the answer the truth the reason . I find me Yonrico second guessing the truth . God always gets me Thru .

My music has always and now been my driving force .
